9/24 - Bailey's Fiber Fun Frenzy! - Wrap Dolls!

This is a “Make-it and Take-it” Class making Wrap Dolls.

No skills are needed for this class so from beginners to experts, all are invited. Bring a friend and each of you will create your own unique art doll. All materials are provided and no sewing is involved.

This is a great for a fun Girls Night Out so get your friends together and sign up now! There is a 10 class minimum and pre-registration is strictly required.

Bring your own favorite beverages or enjoy some of our coffee or tea.

Beginning Knitting with Jaq. 

Only 4 spots left!

 After several requests for a beginning knitting class, we have one for you just in time for cooler weather. Join us for two hours every Wednesday evening in October (that’s 5 class sessions) to learn how to hand knit. We will begin with a simple hat project to learn knit stitch. Then we will learn purl stitch, casting on, binding off, and pattern basics.

Materials for the hat will be included. Please let us know what color yarn you would like when you sign up.

Trapunto Stitching with Bailey Earith

Learn to add dimension and texture to your applique’ with trapunto.  This technique uses high loft batting to raise/stuff your applique’ project before quilting.  Learn how to easily accomplish this stunning effect. Bring your own applique project or bring one that you have been working in her other classes to build on.

Create a Fall Capsule Wardrobe with Jaq.

What is a Capsule Wardrobe? How do I make one? How do I know what to make?

Join Jaq on Thursday evenings in September to go through the process of planning and executing a Capsule Wardrobe for fall. The first week we will learn what a Capsule is and start planning your very own Capsule Wardrobe. The next two weeks will be workshop style sessions.  You bring your patterns and supplies to work on your Capsule pieces. Jaq will help with pattern adjusting, zippers, and anything else you may need.

Homeschool Sewing 101 with Jaq - Pillowcases.

  Join us as we make simple pillowcases in our first ever Homeschool oriented class for children. Children must know how to operate a sewing machine to participate. For those who are interested in a beginning sewing class prior to this class - please let us know so we can schedule one with you.

Skills used in this class include:

Math- addition/subtraction, measuring, and possible fractions. Fine motor skills while cutting and sewing.

Following two and three step directions


Supply list:

1 yard of main fabric

1/4 yard of accent fabric

Sewing machine (rentals available on a first come first serve basis and must be pre-paid)

Fabric scissors

Due to limited space, parents and other non-participants may not be in the workroom during class. You are welcome to stay in the lounge area during class if desired.

Measuring Accurately For a Better Fit with Jaq.

Clothes not fitting right? Not sure if you are measuring yourself or others, correctly? Want to get a better fit overall?

This one hour workshop will be a hands on demo of how to accurately measure yourself and others. You’ll be a lot happier with your me-made garments when they actually fit! The skills learned in this class will help ensure that the finished garments you make will fit the way they are meant to. The basics of selecting patterns and pattern grading will also be discussed during this class.

Back to School Scrunchies and Bookmarks

Join us as we make scrunchies to match all our back-to-school clothes. And throw in a book mark or two for all the studying that will be happening this year!

The scrunchies can be made in three sizes, two minis (pictured on Rosie), medium, and jumbo.

Materials needed- fabric at least 9 inches wide and 25 inches long- a fat quarter will get three medium scrunchies- and 1/4 inch elastic. Fabric scraps, lightweight interfacing and optional ribbon for the book marks.

This activity was featured in the "Blount County Horizon Magazine" published by "The Daily Times". We provide all the materials needed. Intermediate Freestyle Sewing Class

For those of you wanting to up your sewing game, join us Tuesday evenings in August for Intermediate sewing.

This will be a “freestyle” class. You pick your project and Jaq will help you learn what you need to complete it. Pockets? Done. Invisible zippers? We got you. Pattern hacking? Jaq can do it!

Cost is $75 for four one hour sessions occurring Tuesdays, August 6, 13, 20 and 27 at 6:30 pm.

Make and Take: Pattern Weights

Pattern weights are a great alternative to using pins when cutting out a pattern. They’re faster and you don’t have to worry about potential damage from pinning the wrong spot.


Join us for a quick Make and Take session. All materials will be provided and instructions as well as hands on demonstration. Each participant will get to make and take home a set of pattern weights.

Jelly Roll Rug

Pre-cuts can be used for more than quilting! Take the jelly roll for example; in this class we will be going through the steps to make a jelly roll rug for your home. It’s easier than you would think!

Instructions for how to complete a rug will be given as well as time to get started on your own rug. Demonstration of how to finish your rug at home will be included as well.

One jelly Roll

1.25 yards thin cotton batting cut into 2” strips

The Quincy Dress Workshop

June is woven dress month for Sew My Style and we are having a party! Join us for a fun filled morning making the Quincy Dress from Jennifer Lauren Handmade. Lunch will be provided! Spots are limited so sign up early by filling out the form on our FB page or by calling (865) 805-4460.

Our most popular class, the Leggings class teaches you how to sew knit (stretchy) fabrics and some basic pattern grading skills. You will go home with a customized leggings pattern and a pair of leggings made by you!

Kids Beginning Sewing

Have a child age 8-12 that wants to learn how to sew? This class is for them!

In this two week course your child will learn the basics of sewing such as threading a machine, sewing straight lines, how to use a pattern and much more!

The first session, June 12, will include intro to the machine and making a pillowcase.

The second session, June 19, will be learning to use a pattern and making leggings or shorts.

An adult over 18 years of age must drop off/pick up. Extra charges will occur for pick up ten minutes or more after end of class time.

Supplies Needed:

Sewing machine - Bring your own or rentals available by reservation - $5/hr.

Basic sewing kit - paper and fabric scissors, pins and measuring tape.

Week one class - 1 yard of woven fabric

April Demonstration - Circular Sock Knitting and Dyeing Sock Yarn Blankets

We are SEW excited to announce our next Demonstration on Saturday, 4/6 from 1-3pm, we will have Patty Benton demonstrating an antique Gerhart 1904 Circular Sock Knitting Machine and will also be talking about dyeing Sock Yarn Blankets. She will also be sharing info on the Smoky Mountain Fiber Art Festival on 4/12-14, where she will also be demonstrating!
